Back from SPC

“SPC baked beans in spaghetti—for hungry little human beans!” I hear you thinking. No, not at all. SPC stands for Strategic Planning Conference and that's where Ben and I have been for the past two days. It was up at Elanora Heights conference centre which was a very nice site. Everyone was under the one roof which made it quite nice and cosy. And the staff were heaps nice and did all the washing up and cleaning for us. Ben and I even got our own room together, though we were expecting to have to split up. The purpose of the conference was to plan things for ECU for next year. A lot of the staff are leaving and we wanted to get the students more involved regardless and to really feel like they “owned” ECU and what was going on. So there was lots of brainstorming and suggestions being thrown around and everything sounded so exciting it almost made me want to be there for next year. But, alas, no. I wonder how many things will still continue. For example, The Page and the ECU website which require a fair bit of maintenance—someone really has to own those things for them to continue to have life. But things that you build may not necessarily suit other people and so perhaps it is better if they die. It still makes me sad thinking about it though. I think Ben is getting better on his medication. His short film was received with great enthusiasm and several peope made a point of telling me how much they enjoyed it. I think Richard is planning on getting it screened sometime/somewhere at National Training Event ... oh dear. Anyways, we're on holidays now - YAY!!! Bye bye rain—we're off to sunny (I hope) Coolum. See you in a week!
