Yesterday we went to Dave and Crystal's wedding. It was a very hot day but gorgeously sunny. Al preached on 1 John 4 and said some very good things about marriage which reminded me again how hard it is sometimes. I was kicking myself because I forgot to put the memory stick back in our digital camera and so was unable to capture anything of the day (and there were some beautiful shots to be had too!)
Their reception was on a boat (first reception I've been to on a boat!) The wedding party had photos in the park before boarding the boat. The groom asked me and Josh to get them some drinks. I estimated 11 people (wedding party plus photographer) but forgot to take into account the guy doing the video. Oh well. They were all excessively grateful for the drinks but then it
was hot and the guys were wearing shirts, waistcoats AND black jackets. We had drinks on a floating pavilion and I got into an surprising conversation with Brendan and Al—surprising because I've never really talked to Brendan properly about anything and the conversation we were having was about postmodernism and children's literature. The conversation with Al was also interesting because he was putting forward his arguments for women doing three years of theological study. He rightly pointed out that, as the Anglican diocese increases its activities in the area of women's ministries, there will be a greater need for women who are good teachers, and therefore a theological education is very useful for that sort of thing. I'm not sure if I could handle three years at Moore College though the idea sort of appeals to me. But I don't know how we could possibly afford it; we've only saved enough money for Ben's college fees.
We boarded the Bass and Flinders after this and cast off. The boat took a leisurely route around the Georges River while we ate entrees (smoked salmon, mussels, oysters and prawns), mains (grilled salmon or lamb ribs with roasted vegetables), dessert (heart-shaped chocolate shells filled with cream, strawberries, strawberry coulis and something else I couldn't identify), wedding cake (chocolate mud) and speeches. I got to catch up with some people I hadn't seen in a while and snap photos with the disposable camera left on our table. Next to me Leigh, Martin and Brendan were talking about music which was very odd because their conversation sounded like Greek to me. They got into an argument about +9 chords which Brendan appealed to Ben to solve. It was a lovely afternoon.
The year we are planning to start college is the year that Dave and Crystal, Brendan and Kate, Craig and Liz, and Pete and Erica are also planning to start college. I think the boys want to form a Moore College band. Brendan suggested that me, Crystal, Kate and Liz should all do the free wife year together. I have to keep reminding myself that, as cool as that is going to be, we're all going to be at college to
study.

Hey I heard recently that you only get the free wife year if the hubby does the four year degree ... ?
Even though you’ve only saved enough for Ben’s college fees, I reckon you should pray about you going through college as well. If its in His will, its gonna happen
