“I like surgery”

Tuesday, 17 July, 2007

I beg to differ with Nigel Tufnel but surely no one likes surgery.

Tuesday morning I took Ben to Sydney Private Hospital at 6:30 am and he was admitted into the OR at 7:30 to fix a double hernia. I hung out in his room, knitting Tua Cha gloves in chenille and reading Deep Water (by Debi Gliori. It's a book that tries very hard to do Diana Wynne Jones and doesn't quite succeed. But the cover is fuzzy and aqua which makes it fun). He was back by 10:30 (when Hans and Cathy visited), feeling very sore and very drowsy. I kept him company all day and then at 7 came home to eat dinner, watch TV and blog. I'm going back again tomorrow armed with iPod, books and green tea for me. Hopefully I can take him home tomorrow (though I don't know how he'll manage the stairs). But they may keep him for an extra day ...

Poor Ben.  That doesn’t sound fun at all.  Please give my best wishes to him - I hope he gets all better very soon.  And for you, I hope he is a nice patient to deal with!!

What a terrible way to finish off your holdays.
