Elsie has already blogged about her experience of Lightworks, the FEVA art exhibition aimed at raising much-needed funds for FEVA. It is funny to read her account of what went down with my heretic husband while I was off having dinner with my mum. We went to a Chinese restaurant in Kensington and she ordered everything in English. I asked her about that and was surprised at her reasons and it makes me wonder if it is then even worth it to learn Chinese given that the Chinese I learn now will not be the same Chinese that people use in 20 years' time. (Of course by “Chinese” I mean Cantonese.) She also ordered a ridiculous amount of food that we were not able to consume but which I got to take home for later. (I think most of it will end up as my dinner this evening; I don't think I should be going to church this evening.)
She and I arrived late to Lightworks. I was impressed with the artworks on display (with the exception of the terrible photo of me which Ben had decided to call “Risen” to parody Evanescence). I ended up buying more presents for people (which is great because the money goes to FEVA AND I don't have to worry about buying people presents later when I don't have the time or the money!) My mum surprised me by buying me one of the dresses on display. It's black (of course) and has lime green little ties on it. I'm looking forward to wearing it somewhere fabulous some day.
