Oh, say can you see

Monday, 11 July, 2005

So today I went into work and the staff bought me chocolate mudcake and sang “Happy Birthday” to the tune of “The Star Spangled Banner” (in honour of their American guests). Apparently it's tradition to sing the refrain to a completely different tune each time a staff member has a birthday. I have to say, I really enjoy working there. It must be heaps different if you're a full-timer and perhaps if I was Guan, I'd get sick of the daily grind. But at 6 hours a week, it's still a novelty. I spent this morning pruning and article back from 7,000 words to 1,000 and the afternoon transcribing Al Stewart on Love, Sex and Marriage (only to find at the very end that Emma had already done it four years ago!!) Ah well, it forced me to listen well to him anyway.

(I meant to blog about the staff retreat, How to Come Up With a 5-Year Plan and L1-L5 readers. Maybe later. Along with the Galatians, Daniel and Spittler posts which are still rattling around in my brain which I don't have time for.)

I'm still packing for Melbourne and I cannot find my fantastic black hat I bought in Japan which would just absolutely perfect my Death costume (yes, I know, how unoriginal to come as Death; I briefly considered Nuala but I don't have blonde hair and fairy wings are a little unwieldy to take to Melbourne. So Death it is [this hair has to be good for something] and Kathleen, do you own a black eyebrow pencil?) I'll see you all again in 11 days.
