I thought my second-last Blinks post was absolutely fascinating—the last item in particular, which eventually became a CHN (which, I think, is too sci-fi for non-Ghost in the Shell readers). However, curiously enough, it's attracted no zero comments, and the last Blinks post has only attracted two, with both commenters saying something about showers.
But, after reflecting on Dave's link to “9 Ways to think about linking in a blog post ”, I realise I probably haven't given you a good enough reason to click. I should really be trying to “sell” it to you a bit more.
Obviously, not all links are going to be interesting for your average blog reader (and my interests are a little odd, canvassing everything from writing/music/movies/architecture/fashion/knitting to humans and their relationship to technology to the odd quirky article about something completely unrelated). And there will be links that I put up here merely because I want to remember them (and I'm not game enough to use del.icio.us).
But there are others that I think certain people will find fascinating. There are some articles that I'll send directly to certain people because I know the subject matter dovetails with their interests (e.g. this article about Ingrid Michaelson who put her music on the internet and became famous—so famous that one of her songs was used on the Season 3 finale on Grey's Anatomy. I sent the article to both Ben and Guan because I was thinking of how the man behind Gotye spent two years in his bedroom just making music, and then won his first ARIA this year, and I thought it might encourage them in their music-making). But I won't necessarily blog links like these because I don't think anyone else will be interested.
However, there are other links which are blogging-worthy as well as Ben-worthy or Guan-worthy or Bec-worthy or whoever-worthy. I thought Guan, Bec, Haoran and maybe even Fish or Kathleen would be interested in Salon.com's review of the graphic novel Shortcomings—but more so Guan, Bec and Haoran because it deals with westernness and Asianness, and that feeling of never measuring up (hence the ruler along the bottom of the page). However, when I asked Guan and Bec if they'd looked at it, they said they hadn't. It was only after I talked about it a bit more and why I thought they should go read the review that they were interested enough to click. In the future, I should probably tag the links to signal that they're particularly recommended for certain people; you may not want to look at something because an advertising company tells you to, but it's a whole different thing when your friend tells you to.

aww. I consider myself admonished.
A lot of it has to do with when and where I read your posts. Sometimes I’ll be at work and will have time to read the blog post but maybe not to follow through on all the links…I’m more likely to do that if I’m at home. And then sometimes I’ll think ‘must go back and read that later’ but don’t…
Though i must say, you DO get around on the internet much more than I do, so I know your links are always going to be interesting… :D
I try to look (and lately to comment!) but I am more likely to do so if the description makes me want to.
Oh, and the linking article was interesting. For my part, I enjoy reading other people’s links and should put more in my own posts.
