In a crummy mood today—bad night's sleep, this bug won't leave my body even though it's been two weeks and my nose has turned (once again) into an ever-dripping tap which makes my crazed brain think I should go off fluids permanently and turn my flesh into desert.
See how the virus has spread! And evolved. What was kicked off as a harmless literary meme by Ben A has now mutated in Elsie's hands. It then quickly re-infected the audiophiliac trio—Duncan, Haoran and Guan—who gave it to some guy named Joe who bears the unfortunate (or fortunate, depends on which way you look at it) acquaintance of Simon who has now handed it back over to me.
I'm never going to get well!!!
The meme doesn't even make sense anymore—what does Farenheit 451 even have to do with music??? Janet doesn't even try to work it out. I must be too much of a purist (or a bibliosnob). Or I'm way too old. In any case, I admit defeat. Answers below.
I'm going to take this as the soundtrack to the movie so it would have to be OK Computer (Radiohead).
Does Ben count? He played me He (Jars of Clay) the first night we met (on guitar, not keyboard though).
I can't say that musicians/pop stars generally inspire crushes. You can admire their talent and perhaps their good looks but someone singing a nice song or playing a nice tune doesn't necessarily give enough insight into their character to make you formulate attachments/obsessions to them. (Another reason why this meme doesn't entirely work with music; with books, you get right into the mind of the author [hence books like Literary Seductions]). Though I suppose you could with musicians who write their own songs. But Neil Finn is depressing and Jeff Buckley was stupid enough to get himself killed (and ruin a perfectly good guitar) and my musical tastes generally run to women because they are easier to sing along to.
I think it was two Soraya albums for $1 each. And I'm not hugely into her. Before that, it was Two of a Kind (Katie and Magie Noonan) and before that it was Elixir.
I have no control over this because Ben rules the CD player in the car and I haven't been listening to anything at home because I do most of my work in the kitchen where there's no audio equipment. I'll bet it was Dark Side of the Moon (Pink Floyd) but I would like to say it was Talking Book or Innervisions (Stevie Wonder).
Nothing!!
I'm not after anything in particular at the moment. I am curious about Goldenhorse's Riverhead though—after what Deb showed me.
Ben, undoubtedly.
I would also like to be taught better piano-playing skills but it would have to be by someone nice who I wasn't intimdated by (and Ben doesn't teach).
NO ONE!!! Because I don't want this thing to spread any more!!

Actually, the meme didn’t start with me (I got it from Micah, who got it from someone, &c &c. I think I was the first one to bring it to our fair shores, though, so blaming me is probably the best thing
I agree; the whole thing doesn’t work with music. And that Fahrenheit 451 question never made sense, anyway.
