The Wallet Thing

Tuesday, 26 October, 2004

My first ever history lesson in Year 7 consisted of us pairing up with the girl beside us and going through each other's wallets, trying to discover what we learnt about each other. It was a bit of an archaeological exercise—what can you tell about people from their objects? Consider library cards, video store memberships, coffee buy-10-get-1-free cards, licenses, photographs ... I find it fascinating what people carry in their wallets but I am shy about asking complete strangers to let me do such an intrusive thing. But for the friends I am sure will not be offended, I do ask and learn ...

So what can you tell about me?

Though not wallet, strictly speaking.

You are concerned about your external appearance or you just like to have things handy so you can fix it up, you love the arts (including the opera and reading), you might be a writer since you carry a notepad and pen, you have a sweet tooth and you have been known to catch public transport.

Not very insightful, I know! Perhaps your wallet would have been heaps more interesting ...

Not that concerned about appearance! Just usually running so late that I have to put my lipstick on at the busstop. grin

& I had to take the glue out of my bag cause it kept leaking.

Wonderful topic, Karen! I’ve listed my wallet’s content on my blog - please analyse away!

Okay I’ve done it too: http://www.to-live-is-christ.blogspot.com

Well, I’ll just do it here instead of my blog!

I use a Puma card-sized purse - the best because it fits in my pants and its got a zip which spills over the side. Plus it was a gift!! Definitely one of the best gifts I’ve received.

Inside it contains:
$19.65
ATM receipt
Morling College Library Card
Green Adult Travel Pass (given to me today by a student!! So kind!!)
1 each of the following: blue and green travel ten
2 each of the following: red and brown travel ten
Credit card
Pretzel World frequent buyer card
EFTPOS card
Netbank customer card
My mum’s flybuys card
Dental surgeon business card
Top Video Membership card
Medicare card
Shorelink Library Card
Proof of Age Card
Gym Membership
AND
New Zealand Natural loyalty card - only one more regular product to go before I get a freebie =)))

Btw, I love going through other people’s wallet!
