There’s no place like London

Friday, 08 July, 2005

This afternoon we just got back from four days in Jamberoo during which Ben tried to write a sermon on Mark 9-16 and I finished knitting my cardigan (I'm now trying to put it together). Last night SVU was strangely replaced by the previous evening's episode of House and the news about the London bombings infected all channels on the TV.

How many people do you know who are in London at the moment? I know seven. I checked four days' worth of emails and did a little ring around this evening—dredging up phone numbers of the parents of the girls I used to go to school with. The whereabouts and safety of four on my list have been confirmed; the other three include Larissa, Panther and the lovely girl who was out for a term studying at Moore who works in the House of Commons. Would you join with me in prayer?

Hey Karen
Larissa is fine. I’ve had an email from her brother Tim, a mate of mine from uni, and she was safe in the British Museum when it all was happening.
Thanks for your prayers and concern.

Thanks for letting me know, Erin!

I’ve just heard that the girl who works in the House of Commons is fine—she was in the tube when it happened but nowhere near the bombs. She was just evacuated like everyone else. Panther also says she is fine. That’s everyone—thank you Lord for keeping my friends safe!
