Truly in the rainy city

Wednesday, 13 July, 2005

We have arrived in Melbourne safe and sound after a very nice trip down the coast road past all sorts of interesting towns that we did not stop and look at. We stayed the night in Lakes Entrance, had fish and chips and said hi to the black swans. Nice place—gorgeous beach with no one on it at this time of year. Despite its slightly obscure location and its absence on the University of Melbourne map, University College is lovely. We are staying in the academic apartments which is very odd since we aren't academics. There are actually black gowns in the wardrobe which are for wearing to dinner at the High Table (uh, don't think we'll do that ...) We are going to have dinner and then meet Anita for dessert on Lygon St.

I’m glad you found a place to sleep and that you didn’t have to sleep in your car.

Why won’t you have dinner at the high table with black gowns?! It’d make for great photos :D
